Alex Colville Exhibition at AGO

First of all, happy new year everyone! Our staycation has been so amazing that I wish it would never end. It's going to be so much harder back to the daily grind next week, but c'est la vie.

I've always wanted to go to the Alex Colville at AGO but kept putting it off. It wasn't until last night did Anthony remind me that today was the second last day of the exhibition. How about stopping procrastination as a new year resolution for me, huh?

Anyway, I didn't think twice but to put everything else on hold and went to the exhibition. It was extraordinary! If you are reading this post today (Jan 3), you might want to consider going tomorrow (Jan 4) because it's the last day. This is very likely a once-in-a-lifetime event because last time AGO hosted an Alex Colville was in the 80's!

Here are a few of my favourites from the exhibition - AGO actually encourages patrons to take pictures and post them on Instagram.

This is likely the most famous painting of Alex Colville's, "To Prince Edward Island".

Berlin Bus

Church and Horse, painted after the Kennedy funeral.

Cyclist and Crow

Couple on Beach

Dog and Priest

Child and Dog

Woman in Bathtub - Alex Colville's wife was his muse.

Taxi - it took me a while to figure out this was in Hong Kong.

Pacific, which was referenced in David Fincher’s Fight Club, which happens to be one of my all-time favourite movies.

Athletes

I rarely felt so inspired after an art exhibition like this, so I think adding a piece of his artworks would be in order. More on that later.
